Fly Like an Eagle
Usually when we go to Colorado, we split our time between Colorado Springs and Denver in order to spend time with both sides of the family. One of my most favorite places to visit is the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. It’s really a beautiful place and sets high up in the foothills. The chapel at the academy is especially stunning.

We ended up having a pretty busy weekend this week. The Architect’s parents came down and took us out for dinner to celebrate the Architect’s birthday. Afterward, we met some of his friends in DC at a place called The Brickskeller. It has a massive selection of beer although sadly the first couple beers that the Architect and I asked for they didn’t have. Afterwards, we came back to the house and hung out. It had been awhile since we saw this set of friends so there was quite a bit of catching up to do. This morning after breakfast, we all took a run down to Ikea. There were a few in the group who had never been there so they were in love with the place!This weekend flew by and I’m so not ready to go back to work tomorrow. Summer classes are winding down, which I’m thankful for. I’ll be taking three classes as well as working full time in the fall. I’m just happy to have that squared away! That’s pretty much all that’s new here.
What’s new with you all?

got stuck with the academy pics. i married a ‘zoomie.’ didn’t get married in the chapel, though attended several weddings… Companion wishes to be buried/intured there… rocky mountain high (he’s still thinking buried while i’m a fan of cremation, but that’s another story)
Thanks for taking us with you in your trip. The pics were truly nice. With the mountain for a background, one can really fly or soar toward the sky like an eagle.
That chapel is stunning!
Colorado Springs area is so pretty. I’ve never seen that chapel, I’ll have to check it out sometime when I’m out there again.
There is really nothing new with me. Same old, same old.
I saw the books u are reading. I read that book 20 years ago! I used to love Maeve Binchy’s books.
Wow, that chapel looks something like a very complex origami model.
@travelerblue - My uncle is buried up there. I’m with you on cremation but if you are going to be buried, that’s a beautiful place to be buried.
@Norcani - Truly
@WakeUpLaughing - It’s pretty stunning in person!
@iStephanieMarie - Definitely. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to go inside but we were visiting right during the peak of wedding season so they had a new wedding about every 20-30 minutes going on.
@icepearlz - One of my Xanga friends suggested her so I’m going through a lot of her books right now.
@ModernBunny - That may be the most perfect description of it ever!!!
I’ve never been to the AF Academy. Considering how very many friends we have with connections there, I ought to see it some day.
I’ve been to the Brickskellar a number of times. Boy, a long long time ago though! I remember a few pub crawls through there.
Going back to work usually sucks after such a good vacation. I’m glad I’ll be unemployed when we return from ours, but poor Steve! At least we get back the day before Labor Day so he can sleep for a day.
Beautiful frontage of the chapel. Glad you have some time off before you start afresh with your Fall routine.
Nothing new in my life. Daughter and son in law will be taking off for S’Frisco in ten days and the boys will stay with us. Then my niece comes in from Orlando for a visit, and after that the month of Ramadan starts, and every thing then cools down.
Great chapel shots – reminds me a little of the Mormon church in La Jolla, but on a much larger scale.
That is a beautiful chapel!
Hmmm…. job hunting’s not new….but I am planning a trip to Gen Con… barring a job offer, I’m off to geek out like I may have never geeked out before.
I have been really busy.
On the bright side I caught The Hangover. While I didn’t find it hilariously funny, there were a couple of moments where I laughed out loud.
3 classes and full time work! Whew! When will you be done done?
