  • Mini Staycation

I was actually able to relax this weekend with the Architect. I feel pretty refreshed for once, which is nice. We got our new bigger and more comfy mattress delivered on Saturday. Of course, the delivery guys gave us a time frame in which they would deliver the mattress (12:30 to 3:30). Perhaps unsurprisingly, they didn’t show up until about 3:15pm meaning that we had a good chunk of time to simply laze about the house. It’s kind of nice to be forced to do that (haha). Neither the Architect nor myself are very good at relaxing so it was nice to have an actual reason to just hang out at home and not do much of anything.

We caught up on a few West Wing episodes (the Architect is making me watch the series as I had never seen it when it was actually on and I love it!). I caught up on some reading. We did a little bit of organizing and cleaning around the house so we were also productive.

I love a good staycation! It was exactly what the doctor ordered. It’s nice to feel like I actually had a weekend for once.

    How was your weekend?

  • Good job! I had a mix of busy and relaxing, and I’ll write about it soon. So glad you had some downtime with your husband!

  • Sometimes a lazy weekend is the best medicine. We got snow yesterday so now I have a long weekend (SNOW DAYS!)

  • Good. I saw True Grit this weekend. It was pretty good.

  • Oh, I finished the final season of The West Wing while on my business trip to the US.  What a compelling series.  Great writing and it makes me feel so optimistic about US politics.  Then I turn on the news and get depressed… =(

  • My weekend was snowed in. I was lazy and did some reading. Last night I made shrimps with red chili powder, turmeric and oil, and after sauteeing them added them to the cooked basmati rice that had fried onions mint and cilantro in it. Turned out quite good. I am telling you this, because you like indian food.

  • Honestly? Super boring… every day is a staycation when you have no job haha

  • I love staycations and am happy you and the Mr. got one this week end.  My week end flew by and it usually drags by.  We are waiting and hoping for snow.

  • A Staycation – that’s a new one I’ve not heard before. Glad you were both able to relax.

  • relaxing is uber important.  my boyfriend made me spend some time doing that this weekend, too.  i had to thank him for it.

  • @HereLiesNelsontheGreat - They are so good!

@fauquet - Haha, I would stay in bed all the time if I could!

@BoureeMusique - The Architect and I both agreed that we needed to plan for downtime. It’s so good to have that chance to reset!

@JoyousMemoriesPhoto - Ugh, I was hoping for a snow day today but no luck :(

@Redshirte - I’m not really sure how I would like that one. The Architect wants to see it though.

  • @TheCheshireGrins - I would say that if you like movies by the Coen Brothers, you will probably like this one!

  • @christao408 - Yeah, it’s really an uplifting view on politics. I wish real life were a little more like that.

@ZSA_MD - Ooo, that dinner sounds delicious. I’m thinking that I may need Indian food this week :) It’s such a tasty way to beat the cold winter temperatures!

@carolinavenger - Super boring isn’t the worst thing in the world to be sure.

@grannyinboxers - Same here. I thought maybe today would be a snow day but the storm passed us by before roaring into New England!

    @Chatamanda - It was lovely!

@Dreams_of_a_Cowgirl - Yeah, sometimes you almost have to force yourself to relax! Or have someone else force you… ;)

  • @Redshirte - I might wait till it comes out on Netflix!

  • I love that you’re watching the show like that! We do that sometimes. I never got into Star Trek other than going to see the movies and watching the original show as an after school veg-out when I was in elementary school. So in between tv seasons, Steve is having me watch his favorite Star Trek. We’ve seen a few seasons with many left to go.

My weekend was good. Saturday, I got to go hear Scott Hahn speak. That was incredible. And Sunday we went out to lunch with Steve’s best friend…the 3 of us discovered an awesome Asian fusion restaurant together. Nothing is as fun as recreational eating!
