Long Weekend
Just a little bit of an update….
- We spent most of the weekend in PA with the Architect’s family. On Saturday, we went to the Farm Show. It’s basically like a county fair with no rides (save an old fashioned carousel) and lots and lots of food and animals. I had a lot of fun. We also came home with a whole bunch of new spices to try out. There was a fabulous spice vendor there.
- Last night, I had the youngest sister (KT) over to hang out. We saw “Leap Year.” Not anything too high brow but it was very cute and made me desperately want to go to Ireland.
- The Architect cooked a whole bunch of goodies for us including garlic knots and bbq chicken pizza. Yummy!
- I got my hair cut very short today (It’s just at my shoulders now). It’s adorable though. I’ll try and get some pictures up this week.
- Speaking of pictures, we got a new camera as a late Christmas gift to each other. It’s a Nikon Coolpix (blue, naturally) and has a whole bunch of settings. Most amazingly, it has a special setting for taking pictures of food, which is ridiculous but awesome.
- We went downtown this afternoon to walk around. We ate at Matchbox which is always a favorite. It was nice to be able to spend our day off together just walking around.
How was your weekend?

Will I be expecting more pictures of food now?
Uneventful. I have started the process (online so far) of looking at apartments. Actually going and looking is coming in the not too distant future.
You really have a good time. May you have more to come with your Architect.
love animals at the state/county fairs! my weekend, uhm, eventful…
A fair with no rides? That doesn’t sound right!
My weekend was perfect. I went to St.Louis and met a new friend from xanga, ” awoolham”, whose poetry and prose, just melt me. We had lunch to gether, came home and had a wonderful night chatting with special people.
I am glad you had a fun weekend Meg. I am happy that you like the county fairs. The smell of the animals gives me a severe headache, but I love to go and browse around the various little set ups they have of different fruit pies and spices and jams and jellies.
Farm shows are the best. Except for the allergic part.
Ah yes, the spice man!! I was quite disappointed I didnt get to go to the Farm Show this year.
Did you see the butter sculpture?
Sounds like a good weekend!
Awwww it sounds like a fun way to spend the weekend ,lovely pics hun
I missed the farm show this year
I’m glad you had a fun weekend!!! I definitely want to see those pics of your new haircut!
Pictures of the new haircut would be nice
Hehe!
@Roadlesstaken - LOL, I have no clue what the food setting does. Maybe I’ll figure it out and then I can start taking pictures of food.
@Redshirte - Fun times. Are you staying in MD?
@Norcani - Thank you!
@christao408 - I’m terrified of movable fair rides. It freaks me out that they can be put up and taken down so quickly!
@ZSA_MD - Yes, we found a lot of good spices so that we can try to make some food out of your cookbook. Maybe this weekend we’ll have a chance…
@butshebites - Oh yes, I’m severely allergic to hay. I got a bit of a headache but nothing too bad since I kept washing my hands while we were there.
@der_lila_Stern - We did see the butter sculpture! That was really amazing.
@American_woman_USA - Thanks!
@mynewlife1126 - @FreeeVerse - I will definitely try to get some pics up this week!
I haven’t been to that show for ages….not since my oldest were young.
Do post the hair pics!
My weekend centered on house rennovation so while it was exciting, it wasn’t as fun filled and cool as yours. I’m looking forward to pics of the new do!
Mine was busy, full of hurry to get building supplies out from under the snow and into the old house we are rejuvenating since the weather was fair and so the sun was helping us.
What are garlic knots?
Farm show sounds fun.
Sounds fun!
My weekend was pretty quiet, but Saturday was eventful. I had a writers’ group meeting, which was fun and led us to a new place: a tiny coffee/tea shop with only one tiny table we managed to squeeze four around. Lots of laughs. Then celebrated the Man Who Is Away’s birthday (observed), which was actually earlier in the week; we had steak and watched part of the Colts-Ravens game at his parents’ house, then headed to the theater to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. And we finally exchanged our Christmas presents.
love the animal pics! did u get to pet them? my weekend was great, couple friends and I went to see the monuments.
@TheCheshireGrins - I’m probably going to try and move somewhere inside the Beltway (Arlington, Alexandria, or Northwest are the leading Candidates). I’m really tired of the 1.5 Hour Commutes…
@i_was_there_and_back_again - @ItsWhatEyeKnow - I’ll see if Phil will take pictures tonight.
@sloggy - Garlic knots are little pastries stuffed with pepperoni and dusted with parmesan cheese and of course, garlic. A restaurant in Phil’s hometown serves them.
@epiginoskete - I would so love to find a writer’s group here! Your day sounds like fun. Celebrations are always a good thing
@Shades_of_Athena - We pet the sheep. They were so sweet!
@Redshirte - Understandable. The commute can be killer!
i love cows furry noses…does that make me weird…LOL
