International Xanga Friend Day
I have a lot of credits (over 31,500) and they’re burning a hole in my interwebz pocket. I was thinking about having some kind of contest but I don’t have enough time right now to oversee a contest and I also couldn’t think of a good contest to have. But I do want to do something with these credits. Here’s where you, the lovely people of Xanga come in.
I’m declaring today (and every subsequent day until either I fulfill my promise or until my credits run out) International Xanga Friend Day.
Here’s what I’m thinking: you leave a comment here with the username of a fellow Xangan who could use some cheer and friendship through comment and mini love. Maybe it’s a good Xanga friend. Or maybe it’s someone just starting out here. Submit anyone you want. It’s even better if you can think of a specific entry that you feel needs some more love. Once you comment me with the usernames or entries, I’ll visit that person or the specific entry you link me to and give that person a mini.
It’s not much but I think this could be fun. Yay!
And I don’t do this often but I would greatly appreciate if you would rec this entry. I want as many people as possible to participate!

One thing I never understood (among many) if you give someone a mini, they get actual credits? Like, that one hundred mini really gives one hundred credits? I always thought that thing was symbolic, lol. Do they give credits equiv. to the number of credits they cost you to give?

It’s always terrific to see people in here with great spirit, thinking about others. I have several people I could recommend, just because of their participation and great writing skills. If you don’t know her, I hope you take the time to meet her. She’s a really super person and a little love sent her way could make a big difference. In the last few months, she’s been facing some very serious medical problems. I hope all of my friends just drop by and say Hi to her.

My real name’s Clyde.
But this old Jewish guy named Skeeter used to call me Chesire Clyde, cause I grinned so much.
He was a student at Ole Miss when the national guard were called in to establish order at the riots on campus when James Meredith became the first black student. This was as recently as 1962. There are still bullet holes in the columns of our Lycaeum.
In rehab, we were the only two who didn’t go to church on Sunday mornings.

@Loonsounds - I don’t really understand that either. I think you do get more credits when you receive minis but I’m not sure if it’s as many as the worth of the mini.

I though I had a lot with 13,000. I never give the minis cause they never updated them, and most of them suck, IMHO. (Here, now I’m giving you BACK 100 credits… Ha Ha)

I’ll have to think of someone or some blog entry which needs the love ASAP. Now however I’m going to read your comments. You can always revisit Jurgens (Zeal4living) who is a great Xanga friend, esp. since you told me he mentioned my blog. But you’re already one of my readers. And if Jurgens is commenting here, you already know him perhaps too. Sometimes I think a lot of us are just part of the same big happy Xanga family.

The poor gal lost one of the longtime tenants at the motel she helps manage when he passed away. Then times got really tough and she and her boss were demoted. Then just recently her boss was let go! I recommended her entry about Tony’s death. (But then again, you already know her, so I don’t know if I can think of anyone we both don’t already know.)

Dear Meg.
Another of my friends here on Xanga could really use visits and love. Her name is Ashlee (Madre_pequena). In her last comment to me, she wondered why it seems a lot of her Xanga friends seem to have disappeared. I read so many blogs that sometimes I don’t remember people until I return my comments and revisit their blogs. Ashlee has 6 kids. She just announced she’s expecting her 7th. Her 4 year old son just had heart surgery! She lost another son in a car wreck five years ago and the guy who hit her car and killed her son just got out of prison. She still has health problems relating to the car wreck.
I’m so disappointed that I didn’t remember to include her blog earlier when I last visited you. I hope you still have some love to give. (You must be “blog tired” by now, if you’re even on the internet!)

My sister came on here during that MXA contest so that she could vote for me, but she was quickly hooked when she got a pretty good response. I actually rec all her post just to give her a little extra readership and she now has even developed a few on her own. I think that you should visit her, she is a genuinely good hearted person who is trying her hand at some autobiographical writing, and if you like cute kids, she has that too.
