  • Bookaholics Not So Anonymous

As of this morning, I have read 100 books this calendar year. I totally blame my commute. I have about an hour commute each way. Add to that, I read pretty quickly (for that, I blame college and grad school) Mind you, I’ve essentially been in school year round (I took summer classes) and working full time. I read fast. I can only imagine how much I’m going to be able to read when I’m finished with school (the 100 books doesn’t include any books that I’ve read for school either). I’m pretty impressed with myself. That’s about two books a week on average! Woot!

Are you on Good Reads? Add me!

Of note: I turn 24 on Thursday. I keep forgetting that my birthday is so close and the idea of turning 24 is rather strange to me. Is it possible that I really am this old! In other news, it is so cold here. On Friday, it was 80 degrees and today it only got into the mid-50s. Brr! Welcome Fall!

  • I’m impressed-I’m only at 48…but I started keeping track late. I’m jealous of all the reading time you get on your commute. I’m on goodreads-I’ll add you right now.

Edited to add: The link wouldn’t take me to goodreads. ): It just kept saying bad request.

  • The 5000 Year Leap.   Captivating.  David Pelzer books.

    Check out http://www.paperbackswap.com

  • I turned 24 not too long ago.  It’s not really any different than 23.

  • Good for you. Reading is one of life’s greatest treasures. Do you like your current read? It’s January’s bookgroup selection for me!

  • Oh, I’m on GoodReads, too, but don’t update it much anymore.  The link doesn’t work for me, though.

Hope you have a happy birthday.  To help you celebrate, Tawn and I are going to go down to Phuket for the weekend.  We’ll toast your good health and long life.

  • Have a great Birthday. I’ve read a lot too…..not quite 100 books….unless you count what I have had to read for school. lol

  • I had a double major in Mass Communications and English with vocal performance nearly not being a minor…albeit, I remember reading gads of books and so much stuff…one thing I know now is that I have forgotten most all the things I read maybe because we had to get through so much stuff soo fast….I wish I had a longer amount of time to read through the things I read now…not the Middlemarch stuff either, though I dig that stuff…more like everything I had to rush through..all of it…a hundred books is a feat!

I am looking forward to a pocket protector, a good lamp and stronger glasses soon!

  • Hey, I turn 23 on Saturday – several good Xangans have October birthdays, I’ve noticed.  Happy birthday to you, and that’s awesome how much you’ve read! I have a much harder time getting through books the way I used to; it’s much slower going these days post-college, pre-grad school.

  • Yes, welcome to Maryland fall weather =P .  Can’t wait until I enjoy some San Diego weather!

  • i remember 24… it was a weird birthday for me as well.  seems like such an odd age.  however, you’re only 24 for a year.  then you’ll be 25 and people will remind you that you’re on the down slope to 30.  i think i liked 24 better…

  • i don’t think i’ve even read 10 books my whole life…

  • I agree with you – the cold weather is kinda of a bummer. On the bright side, it is supposed to get back into the 70′s next week!

  • @buckeyegirl31 -@christao408 -  I fixed the link now! Add me!

@dropsofjupiterihh - Oh wow! I had never heard of paperbackswap.com before. Now that’s something I could get into!

    @Rob_of_the_Sky - It truly isn’t! There’s no perks.

@i_was_there_and_back_again - I loved, loved, loved The Art of Racing in the Rain. I think that anyone who is an animal lover will like the book. I cried at the end. It takes a lot to make me cry while reading.

@bravegirl1986 - My tally is totally because of the commute. I guess the slowness of Metro is good for something lol.

@JOUKKO - Yeah, my eyes are probably going to go bad when I’m older. I kept a few textbooks from undergrad (mostly the political ones and history). I plan to reread them after I’m finished with my Masters. I try to stick to lighter pleasure reading books when I’m in school.

@epiginoskete - October is the best month to be born in, of course :)

@Roadlesstaken - I don’t want to hear about it! I’m extremely jealous of you!

@Dreams_of_a_Cowgirl - Gah! 30 is even weirder to think about!

@daniel__n - My sister is very much that way. She hates reading for pleasure.

@Redshirte - It is nasty today! I like rain and I like cold but not mixed!

  • Steve and I are bookaholics, but I’m a slow reader. I’m on goodreads, but I don’t open their emails anymore…and I only skim their newsletters anymore. Just not enough time in the day for all my online interests.
