  • Things I Learned on my Trip

    • TSA does not like when you try to take a ton of coins through airport security.
    • TSA does not like when you pack barbeque sauce in your suitcase.
    • The Kansas City airport is a relic from the 1950s and makes no architectural sense.
    • News in Colorado is limited to human interest stories (oh how I missed my WJLA).
    • I would fail getting into the Air Force Academy.
    • My family still has cousins that live in Ukraine (too cool)!
    • People in Breckinridge, CO are incredibly friendly.
    • There are a lot of hippies in Boulder, CO.
    • The Celestial Seasonings factory is one of the best smelling places that I have ever been in my entire life.

    I’m back and missing the cool Colorado air. Apparently while I was gone, the hot, muggy DC summer weather decided to rear its ugly head. Ick.

    How are you all doing?

  • I am doing awesome! Did you sing the Mockingbird song like Dumb and Dumber while in Colorado?

  • I want to go to the Celestial Seasonings factory!!! Their tea is my favorite and they work hard to reduce waste (no wrapper on the bags, no strings, no tags!).

  • I’m glad you had fun! The Celestial Seasonings factory sounds heavenly. haha….celestial, heavenly…well, it made me laugh!

  • Colorado is renowned by its beauty . I am sure you keep good memories .
    Love

  • Barbeque sauce eh?  What kind of sick game are you playing at airports anyways…. ;)

    I suppose I can’t complain too much today… I survived my first video conferance interview today.

  • It’s been unseasonably cold in the north and the west this year. Which makes for a mild winter. Bad skiing for most places.

  • was it special bbq sauce from CO?

  • How does the airport not make sense?

  • Actually, KC airport is a relic from 1971.  At the time it was built (in the days before they even did x-rays and metal detectors, let alone full on post-9/11 TSA and in the days before deruglation when flights were nearly all point-to-point) it was a very clever design.  You were only 90 feet from curbside to airplane door.  Sadly, events since those days have made the design very not user friendly.

  • Hippies in Boulder? Now that I would not have pictured.

  • I am happy that you had such a good time with your family Meg. I missed reading your posts. Shall try and make up for that. Love and hugs.

  • Welcome back and hope you have a lot of memories from your vacation.

  • haha… it just reminded me of a college football game where the South Park creators had Eric Cartman read the names of the Colorado starting line up.

  • haha, #3! and i hear boulder, co is a big party place…well, the university is, anyway… so i guess hippies fit in.

  • You have me scratching my head about the BBQ sauce in the suitcase…..hmmmmm…..did they tell you why?

    Even if it’s hot and icky….I’m sure it feels good to be back home. =)

  • @LetheOfHeaven - @thekeyhole - I will put that on my to-do list for next time lol

    @firewillconsume - @WakeUpLaughing - It was the most wonderful smelling place that I had ever been! They had a room that was filled with all sorts of different mint!

    @fauquet - It is truly beautiful!

    @sir_spamalot - @SoullFire - Hah, when I picked up my bag from the baggage claim, I noticed that my suitcase was slightly unzipped so I zipped it back up. When I got home and started unpacking, I noticed that one of the bbq sauces that I brought back had pretty TSA tape around it and a nice note that TSA looked through my bag. Those TSA guys like bbq apparently :)

    @tjordanm - I don’t ski but a lot of my family does. They said the same thing while we were out there.

    @Roadlesstaken - Yeah, at the family reunion, they have a silent auction each time to raise money for the next family reunion. We bid on a basket of gourmet goodies from CO and the bbq sauce was in the basket.

    @youandwhosearmy - See christao’s comment!

    @christao408 - We were so confused when we landed. Once we finally got to our gate, we sat there and watched more people get off of different planes and be confused. I had never seen a design like that!

    @ModernBunny - The University of Colorado at Boulder is also known as the Berkley of the west!

    @ZSA_MD - I always enjoy visiting them. Even though I never lived in CO for that long, it still sort of feels like home because of all the family that is there.

    @stixandstonz - It was lovely!

    @stupid_systemus - LOL!

    @ABSOLUTmichael - Indeed!

  • Barbeque Sauce?

  • Oh oh…was the bbq sauce confiscated. I lost a bottle of CA olives on a recent trip….bummer.

  • I’m here cleaning out old sub emails.

    I saw a movie once where several of the minor characters worked at a Celestial Seasonings type place. Their attempts to make slogans for the various tea types were very amusing. I think it was a Jennifer Garner movie.

    Steve and I have been joking about getting him through airport security with his armor on. Maybe one of your Ukrainian cousins made his armor! The world is just small enough for such a crazy coincidence

    I miss WTOP and other DC news. San Antonio news is so annoying…95% of it is domestic violence and deaths at bar brawls. It’s pretty much a waste of time. I have to wait for national news. And there is NO news radio around here. Ugh.
