Sunday Stroll
We’ve lived in the county that we live in for a little over a year now. Because the Architect and I are pretty busy people, it’s been a little difficult to explore our new surroundings. It’s also a lot easier to simply take the Metro into DC and see all of the stuff the city has to offer but since the Metro is still having issues, we were boycotting it this weekend.
We went to Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD. It’s a county park not too far away from us. With it being a county park, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I certainly did not expect to be wowed. I really was though. What a beautiful place to walk around! I have pictures!
One of the fountains in the gardens.
They had a great rose garden with miles of roses. They smelled so good.
Another fountain. This one actually sounded like rain.
This pavilion is actually on an island. So pretty. This was a great place for a Sunday stroll. Afterward, we drove to Trader Joes and loaded up on some goodies. I love that place so much. My biggest score was some peaberry coffee. It’s a special coffee from Central America (typically El Salvador) where the coffee beans are super tiny. They make a great cup of coffee!
This weekend was exactly what I needed to recharge!
What did you do this weekend?

I thought this place looked familiar! I’ve been there before at least twice. I got attack my geese the first time as a little boy -_-
Beautiful!
Beautiful sites!
Wow @the rain fountain. That is some county park. o_O
Yesterday I took the parents out to Applebee’s, then we saw the town’s fireworks display.
It was a pretty good 4th of July.
Looks so peaceful
Nice pictures!
I enjoyed the weather this weekend.
i fotografd flowerz had supper with the bf & watchd the kidz go krazy blowin stuf up last night
pretty. worked and then went to a barbecue. played volleyball and badminton!
Glad you found such a nice place nearby. It is really a beautiful park. This weekend was very relaxing for me, too. One of the first in a long while where I didn’t feel like there was a lot of pressure. Friday night, met a visiting family from Seattle, the father of whom is the principal at the school where my aunt works. Nice people and a pleasure sharing a meal with them. Spent Saturday volunteering at the Fourth of July event followed by a Thai movie after dinner. Sunday was low key and errands all day followed by two friends over for drinks and cheese followed by Italian food across the street. Very relaxing.
@Roadlesstaken - Really? Why did they attack you?
So serene. Good for contemplating. I’m sure you’d come up with more things to write about after your Sunday stroll. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
@christao408 - probably because I was stupid little kid and tried to capture one haha
@Roadlesstaken - Yeah, that would do it. LOL
What a pretty little park. It’s a bit more desolate where I live. Thanks for the sunshine.
I love the pictures (okay, except for maybe the bee… I’m allergic, so I kind of have to hate them). Looks like a beautiful park. I love when there are fountains!
I miss Trader Joe’s SOOOOOOOOO much! There’s one somewhere in Hartford (an hour away with traffic), but I can never find it… Used to go to the one in Westport all the time when I lived in Fairfield (southern part of Connecticut; we moved up north, near the Massachusetts border, a little over 8 years ago).
Peaberry coffee sounds GOOD.
It looks lovely. I really like creative fountains.
Oh wow! I love the pics! Beautiful flowers!:)
Love Trader Joe’s BTW… is always a pleasant experience for me as well.:) Glad you had a great weekend! Hope you enjoy your Monday!
<3,
Karen
that place looks amazing! i’m glad you had fun
So… what were the literary finds you finded at the Mecca of Pages, Titles and Coffee Grinds?
I’m jealous, I need to find some sort of botanical gardens near me, used to live near a nice one when I was in VA.
my bf flew up from GA for the weekend so i got to spend it with him
@Roadlesstaken - Yes, there were tons and tons of geese so I can totally see that happening!
@WakeUpLaughing - @AlterEgo909 - @nattata - Thank you!
@ModernBunny -@pansybradshaw - I didn’t make it out to see any fireworks this year
@MsCatbert2You - It really was. I could see it being a nice place to just sit and watch the world go by!
@LetheOfHeaven - Sounds good to me!
@christao408 - Yay for relaxing!!!
@Norcani - Yup, I definitely feel my inspiration coming back to me!
@gnostic1 - I’m always happy to pass a bit of sunshine along
@Vignettery -@karen_lynn - I love Trader Joe’s. The cool thing about them versus other specialty stores is that their prices are actually decent. Sometimes they end up being even less expensive than the regular grocery store!!!
@i_was_there_and_back_again - Me too! They are so peaceful sounding.
@lollarious - It was great! I will definitely be going back!
@filleJoyeuse - Haha, that name is oh so fitting
I got The Color Purple, Brick Lane, Towelhead, The Buenos Aires Broken Hearts Club, and Strawberry Fields.
@Mad_Ass_Hatter - Definitely look for one. It’s really nice to just walk around in someplace beautiful.
@Torri - Ooo, I’m sure that definitely made for a good weekend!
Went to tupelo Sat. with Mrs. Mann and spent the day sweltering out there… the cover bands were mediocre, but the symphony and fireworks were a nice end to the festivities.
Dear Meg,
I feel as if a whole month or so has passed me by! This past weekend was beautiful here in SoCal but I only experienced it when I did my daily walks and watered the lawn. I certainly hope I’m a bit more ambulatory later this month so I can take off somewhere and snap some more photos.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for continually dropping by my blog when I put up a post, even though I haven’t been visiting reciprocally that much.
Also, this day trip looks tremendous. You live in one of those prime areas where there should never be a lack of things to see or do!

Beautiful pictures of the gardens and the fountains and the flowers. I had a very busy weekend, continuing to still be busy, my company leaves for DC and Atlanta tomorrow.
My fridge of thirty one years plus croaked on me on Saturday, so I was without cold water and ice cubes. But I have a new fridge today.
gorgeous. i’m officially jealous.
@sir_spamalot - I actually didn’t get to see any fireworks this year!!!
@baldmike2004 - That is definitely a good thing about living in this area. There is so much to see in a relatively small radius!
@ZSA_MD - Aside from your fridge breaking, it sounds like you had a nice weekend
Nice shots! Thanks for sharing. =)
What a lovely place.
