Anywhere Is (Scavenger Hunt #37)
I learned the meaning of the sentiment “home is where the heart is" very early in life. Before the age of 4, I had lived in four states: Colorado, Texas, Illinois, and Maryland. I blame this for the reason my accent is so messed up. Generally I’ve been told I sound Midwestern. If I’m tired, I sound a little more Southern. Some of my words are pronounced more like a northerner. But I digress, I remember all of these moves except for the initial move from Colorado to Texas. We've moved several places since then but all of the places have been in Maryland
Getting used to a new house and making new friends became a norm at a very young age. It’s amazing how flexible children can be when it comes to that sort of thing. Moving was never traumatizing for myself or my sisters. I always had my family around me. They made the place feel like home. I would say that my childhood was less of a physical place and more of a feeling.
I think the fact that we moved so much really helped me be at ease in new environments. You truly can make home be anywhere you want it to be. I’m glad I learned that lesson so early on.

I agree with ya - for me, home is where my loved ones are, no matter where it is. :)
Btw, what's this Scavenger thingy?
I agree-home is where your family is. Did you change your background? I like it! :) Like bella said, what is the scavenger thingy?
I'd think it is a useful skill to have, the ability to easily adapt and make new friends.
I totally agree with you. Home is really where the love is... family's love is beyond four walls of any house.
@bella_esperanza - @buckeyegirl31 - A couple months ago, MoonCatBlue put out a sort-of writing scavenger hunt (I have the whole list posted a couple entries back). There's 40 items on the list and you are supposed to do all of them before September. You ladies should participate!
@christao408 - It's been very useful!
@ZSA_MD - Love is all you need :)
I think that its good that you can mold and adapt to new places, some people can't do that and get themselves stuck in a rut.
Totally agree with that statement "Home is where the heart is". Like you I have lived in more than one place. I was born and brought up in Penang Malaysia and lived there my first 18 years. Then I went to Auckland New Zealand on my own at that ripe oold age of 19 and lived there for 6 years, Then I moved again all on my own to Singapore and here is where I have been since. So I know all about starting all over with new friends
I might try the scavenger thing.
In a way I was lucky to grow up in one place, never even moved to a different house in town... course, since I've left home I've lived in four different states... I'm so ready to settle down. :D
